The Irish Heritage Trail is pleased to introduce Katie Baxter the South Shore Irish Heritage Trail’s part-time Coordinator of Membership, Development, and Marketing.
Katie brings a strong background in membership development, program planning, brand development, and community collaborations to the continued growth and development of the South Shore Irish Heritage Trail. She is motivated by the deep levels of cultural resilience, understanding and connection that abound in bringing the language, traditions, courage, humanity, and creativity of a people’s past into the fabric of a diverse community’s present. She has served on various boards and volunteered with non-profit organizations such as the Massachusetts Library Association, More Than Words, the American Indian Housing Initiative, the Kodiak History Museum, the Kodiak Scandinavian Heritage Society, the Alutiiq Museum and Archaeological Repository, and the Scituate Visitor Center.
As a past volunteer at the Irish Cultural Center of New England (ICCNE), Katie assisted with membership drives, annual meetings, open houses, summer camp organization, educational and lecture series, genealogy workshops, festival and cultural event planning, exhibit coordination, and fundraisers. She also wrote the ICCNE’s weekly articles and spotlight interviews for The Irish Emigrant. Most recently she has been enjoying travels across Ireland where she has visited heritage centers, visitor centers, libraries, and museums where she met with Irish officials, tourists, residents and business proprietors with an eye to deepening the experiences offered by our own Irish Heritage Trail. Katie will be working with our nine member towns and has some wonderful ideas for shared activities and deepening connections with members and friends along the Trail.
Fáilte, Katie!
