Boston College is home to an extensive collection of Irish literature, art and music that has grown over the years.
The college’s Burns Library has amassed such an extensive collection as many Irish American figures were involved in setting up the school. The Irish American alumni rose to unprecedented heights in society, working in politics, public service and the arts.
Librarian Helen Landreth was inspired by former BC Librarian, Rev Terence Connolly to assemble an Irish collection in 1949. She spent the next 30 years compiling some of the invaluable works that now reside at the campus in Chestnut Hill.
