Even on the coldest weekend of the year, Irish eyes were smiling and Irish hearts were warm at the South Shore Irish Heritage Black Velvet Soirée held at the South Shore Arts Center in Cohasset.
The evening included delicious food with a raw bar, and more. Music was by SJ Peak with special guests Stephen Kerr (AOH) and Máríon Uí Chéide, well known Sean-nos singer. Aisling Gallery and Framing provided an Art Exhibit and Sale featuring Irish born artist Vincent Crotty.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of our Inaugural Trail Blazer Awards to State Senator Patrick O’Connor and Noted Historian, Catherine Shannon, PhD. The Senator and Professor are outstanding exemplars of Trail Blazers. They are creative leaders committed to excellence. They often forge new pathways to benefit others.
Scituate’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March 19, 2023) organizer, Eddie Kelley, was guest auctioneer. A week in a four-bedroom home in Kinvara, County Galway was the highest money earner of the night. The night was a huge success, enjoyed by all. The evening raised much needed funds for the South Shore Irish Heritage Trail. We are grateful to all who attended, purchased art, or otherwise donated to the Trail. Donations are always accepted and appreciated. They can be made here.
