Check-in
Overview
This Federal mansion known as the King Caesar House (120 King Caesar Road), was owned by Ezra Weston II, a prominent 19th century shipbuilder and merchant who operated a large maritime industry based in Duxbury and Boston. The firm shipped large cargoes of cotton from ports in the southern US to the textile mills in Liverpool, England. The ship “Hope” upon its return, carried back to Duxbury Irish passengers fleeing An Gorta Mór or The Great Hunger. Other cotton freighters of Ezra Weston II often brought Irish passengers to America in their holds.
