Overview

In 1813, Bishop Cheverus traveled to Plymouth from Boston, where he celebrated Mass at the home of Judge Joshua Thomas at 56 Main Street. The home was where the Irishmen worked, and thus the location was a natural one for what was historically one of the first Masses celebrated in all of Plymouth County.

The home of Judge Thomas, as it looked before it was torn down in the 1930s.
